Entry #11: Geometry in logos! ▶️

Geometry in logos!

We constantly see dozens of logos of companies that are known worldwide: YouTube, Facebook, Microsoft... But have we ever thought about the geometry that is found in them? Probably not, but the reality is that almost all logos follow some kind of geometric criteria to be more eye-catching. In addition, I think that a good activity to do with our students is to ask them to look for geometric figures in the logos of the companies they know, so that they will surely be surprised! 😲 For that reason, here I will show you the geometry that can be found in some famous logos, do you want to discover them? Here we go! 👀

YouTube

The first logo is... the one of YouTube! But... can we really find any geometric aspect in this logo? Of course, we can! 😀 Could you guess it? That's right! We can find an equilateral triangle, which is a triangle with three equal sides and three angles that measure 60º.

Microsoft

Let's try another one! The logo of Microsoft, the company that designed the famous Windows operating system or the Xbox consoles. As I see it, this logo is quite obvious, we can clearly see four squares that are congruent and two segments that are perpendicular to each other. Furthermore, those four squares could be contained in a larger square. Do you see it? 🙌

Facebook

Facebook, the famous social network used by millions of people. In this case, we can also find various geometric shapes in its logo. Without going any further, the letter "f" is framed within a circle with a blue surface. But... can you see more geometric shapes? I will help you! 😄 I am going to point out just two of them, but I want you to tell me in the comments if you find other ones! 💻

Well, as you can see, we can find a rectangle and a right trapezium

Here you have a video that talks a bit about the logic behind geometry in logos!

Was it interesting? Well, now it's your turn, I want you to tell me in the comments what geometric figures can be found in the following logos! And remember! You can do this activity with your students without any problems! 👦👧
